Creating Safer Workplaces Through POSH Awareness
Rise Foundation successfully conducted a comprehensive POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Awareness Training at Bal Mandir Senior Secondary School, Vikas Marg, Delhi, led by Madhuri Varshney, a certified POSH trainer and Secretary of Rise Foundation.
The session aimed to strengthen awareness about workplace dignity, respect, and legal compliance under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013>, commonly known as the POSH Act.
Building Awareness Among Educators
Teachers, administrative staff, and school employees actively participated in the interactive training session. The workshop emphasized that every educational institution has a responsibility to create a workplace where every employee feels safe, respected, and empowered.
The training covered:
- Understanding what constitutes sexual harassment at the workplace
- Different forms of inappropriate behaviour, including verbal, non-verbal, physical, and digital harassment
- Rights and responsibilities of employees and employers
- Duties and functioning of the Internal Committee (IC)
- Complaint filing process and timelines under the POSH Act
- Maintaining confidentiality during investigations
- Preventive measures to promote a culture of mutual respect
- Real-life case studies and practical workplace scenarios
Interactive Learning Experience
The session encouraged participants to ask questions, discuss workplace situations, and understand the practical application of the POSH Act in educational institutions. Through examples and discussions, employees gained clarity on identifying inappropriate behaviour and responding appropriately while fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment.
