Building Safer Workplaces: POSH Awareness Session at Arwachin School

Rise Foundation successfully conducted a POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace) Awareness Training for the teachers and staff members of Arwachin School, reinforcing the importance of creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment.

With increasing emphasis on POSH compliance across educational institutions, schools have a legal and ethical responsibility to ensure that every employee understands their rights and responsibilities under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

Key Highlights of the POSH Training

The interactive workshop was led by Madhuri Varshney, Social Worker and POSH Trainer at Rise Foundation. The session focused on practical understanding of workplace safety and respectful professional behaviour.

Topics covered during the training included:

  • Overview of the POSH Act, 2013
  • What constitutes sexual harassment at the workplace
  • Rights and responsibilities of employees and employers
  • Role of the Internal Committee (IC)
  • Complaint filing and redressal process
  • Understanding consent and maintaining professional boundaries
  • Building a culture of dignity, equality, and respect
  • Preventive measures for creating a harassment-free workplace

The participants actively engaged in discussions, asked thoughtful questions, and shared workplace scenarios, making the session highly interactive and relevant.

Why POSH Training is Important for Schools

Educational institutions are workplaces where teachers, administrative staff, support staff, and other employees deserve a safe and respectful environment. Regular POSH awareness workshops help schools:

  • Ensure compliance with the POSH Act, 2013
  • Promote gender sensitivity and mutual respect
  • Prevent workplace harassment through awareness
  • Strengthen employee confidence and trust
  • Create a positive and inclusive institutional culture

A well-informed workforce is the first step toward preventing workplace harassment and ensuring a secure environment for all.
