On 4th Jan 2021, Munish Kundra did plantation of Banj OAK Tree at #Miyawaki Site Brahma Apartments by team Rise Foundation, which we brought from Uttarakhand during recent visit to Almora , Kasar Devi and nearby places.The Banj oak is among the most useful trees of the Himalaya. It is extensively lopped (or branch pruned) for fuelwood and its wood has a high calorific value and good burning properties. The leaves are extensively used as a cattle fodder. Leaf litter is rich in Nitrogen and makes an excellent compost fertilizer.
पर्यावरण को समृद्ध रखने में बांज के जंगलों की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका है। बांज की जड़े वर्षा जल को अवशोषित करने व भूमिगत करने में मदद करती हैं जिससे जलस्रोतो में सतत प्रवाह बना रहता है। बांज की पत्तियां जमीन में गिरकर दबती सड़ती रहती हैं,इससे मिट्टी की सबसे उपरी परत में हृयूमस (प्राकृतिक खाद) का निर्माण होता रहता है।
बाँज या बलूत या शाहबलूत एक तरह का वृक्ष है जिसे अंग्रेज़ी में ‘ओक’ (Oak) कहा जाता है। बाँज (Oak) फागेसिई (Fagaceae) कुल के क्वेर्कस (quercus) गण का एक पेड़ है। इसकी लगभग ४०० किस्में ज्ञात हैं, जिनमें कुछ की लकड़ियाँ बड़ी मजबूत और रेशे सघन होते हैं। इस कारण ऐसी लकड़ियाँ निर्माणकाष्ठ के रूप में बहुत अधिक व्यवहृत होती है। source : https://hi.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%A4%AC%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%81%E0%A4%9C
